Side Grip Vibro Hammers
Grip, Position, Drive and Extract with Excavator-Mounted System
OMS Side Grip Vibro Hammers are designed to handle the complete pile workflow from the excavator: gripping, lifting, carrying, pitching, positioning, driving and extracting. With 360° rotation, ±30° tilting, interchangeable pile arms and a bottom clamp, the OVR-SG Series provides the mobility required for open sites, confined work areas and projects with limited overhead clearance.
The machine operates through the excavator’s hydraulic system. A dedicated electronic control system allows the excavator operator to manage Side Grip functions directly from the cab, supporting a controlled and efficient workflow without relying on a separate lifting machine for normal pile handling operations.
OVR-SG Model Range
The OMS Side Grip range includes OVR 40 SG, OVR 50 SG, OVR 60 SG and OVR 70 SG. Technical values alone do not determine the correct machine. Final selection must consider excavator hydraulic pressure and flow, excavator lifting capacity, hydraulic system design, pile type and dimensions, target depth and soil conditions. Contact OMS technical support to confirm the machine, arm, pad and excavator connection configuration for the project.

A Complete Pile Handling and Installation Workflow
Restricted access, limited headroom and narrow working corridors can make pile handling difficult. Before vibration begins, the pile must be picked up, moved within the available envelope and aligned at the installation point.
The OMS side grip pile driver combines these stages in one excavator-mounted system. Its side gripping arms handle the pile along its length, while the rotating and tilting mechanisms help the operator orient the pile within the available working space. Once positioned, the same equipment can drive or extract the pile. For suitable sheet piles and beams, the bottom clamp provides an alternative working configuration comparable to a standard excavator-mounted vibro hammer.
This integrated approach simplifies the equipment sequence. Actual performance depends on the selected machine, excavator capacity, pile geometry, depth and soil.

360° Rotation and ±30° Tilting for Restricted Work Areas
Rotate the Pile Without Repositioning the Entire Excavator
The 360° rotating mechanism allows the operator to change the orientation of the Side Grip unit around its vertical axis. This capability is especially useful when the excavator has limited room to reposition or when the pile must be aligned with an existing wall, trench or structural boundary.
Fine Positioning with the Tilting Mechanism
The ±30° tilting mechanism supports controlled pile positioning when the working angle or site geometry does not allow a simple vertical approach. Rotation and tilt work together to improve machine mobility and help the operator align the pile before driving or extraction.
These mechanisms do not replace project-specific lifting, stability or installation planning. Pile geometry, excavator capacity, ground conditions and the approved method must be evaluated before operation.
Suggested visual placement: Split screen. On the left, use a top-view product image with a circular “360°” motion graphic. On the right, use a side-view image showing the ±30° tilt envelope. Avoid decorative animation that obscures the clamp, pile or connection points.
Side Grip Arms and Bottom Clamp in One Machine

Interchangeable Side Grip Arms
The main working feature of the OMS Side Grip Vibro Hammer is its gripping arm system. The arms are designed for handling, pitching, driving and extracting different pile profiles. Depending on the project configuration, the system can be equipped with arms and pads for:
Clamp hooks assist with carrying sheet piles during the handling sequence. The correct arm and pad configuration must match the pile profile and project requirements.
Bottom Clamp for Final Driving and Extraction
The bottom clamp is positioned below the vibration case and is designed for driving and extracting suitable beams and sheet piles. It allows the OVR-SG machine to operate in a bottom-clamp configuration after the pile has been handled and pitched with the side grip system.
Together, the side arms and bottom clamp provide two working interfaces. The clamping position can be selected according to the pile and installation stage.

- Verify the excavator: Confirm working weight, lifting capacity, hydraulic pressure and flow, return and drain requirements, and hydraulic system design.
- Define the pile: Identify its profile, dimensions, length, weight and gripping surface to select the arms, pads or bottom clamp.
- Evaluate soil and depth: Use available geotechnical data, including SPT-N values where available, together with the required driving or extraction depth.
- Review the work envelope: Check access width, headroom, excavator position, pile storage and required rotation and tilt movements.
- Confirm with OMS: Finalise the OVR-SG model, gripping equipment, adapter and controls with OMS technical support.
Frequently Asked Questions
It can grip, lift, carry, pitch, position, drive and extract piles with the appropriate machine and arm configuration. The machine combines side gripping arms, a bottom clamp, rotation, tilt and excavator-cab control.
Sheet piles, H-beams, I-beams, tubular piles and timber piles. The correct arms and pads depend on the pile profile and project conditions.
The OVR-SG Series provides 360° rotation and ±30° tilting.
Yes. A dedicated joystick, distribution box and PLC-based control system allow key Side Grip functions to be controlled from the excavator cab.
The rotating and tilting mechanisms, together with side gripping, make the system suitable for many confined or limited-headroom applications. Suitability must still be confirmed against the actual site geometry and excavator working envelope.
Selection is based on excavator capability, hydraulic pressure and flow, pile type and dimensions, driving or extraction depth, soil conditions and access constraints. OMS technical support should confirm the final configuration.
