A Complete Pile Handling and Installation Workflow

Restricted access, limited headroom and narrow working corridors can make pile handling difficult. Before vibration begins, the pile must be picked up, moved within the available envelope and aligned at the installation point.

The OMS side grip pile driver combines these stages in one excavator-mounted system. Its side gripping arms handle the pile along its length, while the rotating and tilting mechanisms help the operator orient the pile within the available working space. Once positioned, the same equipment can drive or extract the pile. For suitable sheet piles and beams, the bottom clamp provides an alternative working configuration comparable to a standard excavator-mounted vibro hammer.

This integrated approach simplifies the equipment sequence. Actual performance depends on the selected machine, excavator capacity, pile geometry, depth and soil.

360° Rotation and ±30° Tilting for Restricted Work Areas

Rotate the Pile Without Repositioning the Entire Excavator

The 360° rotating mechanism allows the operator to change the orientation of the Side Grip unit around its vertical axis. This capability is especially useful when the excavator has limited room to reposition or when the pile must be aligned with an existing wall, trench or structural boundary.

Fine Positioning with the Tilting Mechanism

The ±30° tilting mechanism supports controlled pile positioning when the working angle or site geometry does not allow a simple vertical approach. Rotation and tilt work together to improve machine mobility and help the operator align the pile before driving or extraction.

These mechanisms do not replace project-specific lifting, stability or installation planning. Pile geometry, excavator capacity, ground conditions and the approved method must be evaluated before operation.

Interchangeable Side Grip Arms

The main working feature of the OMS Side Grip Vibro Hammer is its gripping arm system. The arms are designed for handling, pitching, driving and extracting different pile profiles. Depending on the project configuration, the system can be equipped with arms and pads for:

The bottom clamp is positioned below the vibration case and is designed for driving and extracting suitable beams and sheet piles. It allows the OVR-SG machine to operate in a bottom-clamp configuration after the pile has been handled and pitched with the side grip system.
